On the move…

It is never easy saying goodbye… Despite almost 10 years of leaving home and coming back again it still doesn’t get easier… but something I don’t think do. So it is not so much goodbye as até logo (see you again soon).

So although hard, I made it through the goodbyes and now safely arrived into my first Azorean stopover – Faial where I will be staying for around a week to meet different people within the oceanography and fisheries department of The University of the Azores.

Prior to arrival it was a busy two days of travel including: 6 trains, 2 planes, lots of chocolate, plane sandwiches and eventually proper pastel de nata (Portuguese custard tarts 😊).

Touch down in Faial (yes it did feel like we were touching down in the ocean… thankfully the land appeared just in time!) (Hannah Hereward)

After deluges of what felt like tropical rain yesterday, the weather seems to be clearing today giving an almost full view of Pico – a neighbouring island.

There isn’t much more to update for now, so until next time – até logo!

Hannah 🙂
